Back to the basement

Today I went to the basement by myself. I figured I'd let Audrey have a break from the dusty-ness.

Well, when I came back upstairs after a couple of hours I got mer-ed at incessently! By everybody! "Where WERE you? Why weren't you here with us? Why aren't you paying attention to US? Why couldn't we go downstairs with you????"

It was exhausting! To placate them I opened the dining room windows. That made them a little happier.

However, Audrey was sitting in the corner of the left window and wouldn't let Arnold go by her to get to the right window! He tried going around her, then over her --- nothing worked. She wouldn't budge!

So I picked him up and placed him in the other window. That seemed to make him happy --- for about 10 seconds.

Kitties Explore the Basement

I was in the basement cleaning up and unpacking yesterday so I decided I'd let the kitties join me. Arnold was fascinated, as always, by investigating something new but Audrey wasn't so happy. She kept fussing at me! Like, "Mom! Let's get out of this dusty place and go back upstairs!" She was happy when I left.

Arnold, of course, was not.

Happy Kitties

Today was such a beautiful day that I opened the windows. Happy Kitties! They dashed back and forth between the dining room windows and the puce banana window - taking short breaks to dash to the fliving room window (which was not open).

They were watching a squirrel. They were very cute.

The Mystery of the Sequin on Arnold's Nose

I think I've solved the mystery! I was putting a bow on Miss Rebecca's birthday present - you know, one of the sparkly green bows in the basket in the dining room. There were some sparkly sequins on the bow --- some kind of short twisted wire with about 5 sequins threaded on it.

They look VERY much like the sequin we found on Arnold's nose! How did it get there? Well, that's a mystery for another day...

Kitty Happenings

1. (I told you this one already) When I got home Friday night Audrey was by the front door (like she usually is) and when I opened the door she DASHED right outside! "Audrey-kitty! What are you DOING?!" She crouched down on the porch by the column. She sat there a few seconds then dashed back into the house. Crazy girl!

2. I heard a little tappity noise around Audrey so I went to investigate. She was playing with a noodle! It was a little bit hard but slightly squishy. "How did she get a noodle?", I wondered. A little bit later I heard another tappity noise and saw two kitties very interested in something under the dining room table. It was another noodle! I'm beginning to worry about our noodle situation - are we that bad at pouring noodles into the boiling water that we're spilling several? A little bit later I heard a crinkly noise - the kind of noise that means they're playing with a bag - so I went to investigate. It was the bag of noodles that I'd left on the floor! They had managed to open the plastic bag of noodles and were trying to get another one out to play with! Silly kitties!

3. Audrey kept investigating her water bowl. She'd stick a paw in then pull it out really quickly and shake it... only to do it again. I went over to figure out why ... she was trying to catch some bubbles in the water!

4. The kitties snuggled around me for a nap. Audrey was parked on the arm of the couch with her paws draped over the edge and touching my shoulder. If I moved she mer-ed and moved her paws into the correct position. Arnold was stretched out along my leg. He stretched and put a paw into the palm of my hand. I had to hold it there about 30 minutes until he stretched it out of my hand.

5. Right this minute Audrey is sphinxing on my red cua pillow. She's completely contained on the pillow - nothing hanging over. Oops. I just looked at her and she gave me a killer look.
